Wanna know something even more weird? The split between Catholicism and Orthodoxy really comes down to a *single* word, theologically. Politically there was of course also the whole problem of the Pope claiming supremacy, etc., but the actual theological basis of the split is just down to the word filioque - and the Son, which the Western church added to their version of the Nicene Creed to express that the Holy Spirit proceeds from both God the Father and Jesus, while in the Eastern Church the idea is that the Holy Spirit *only* proceeds from the Father. Which is an absolutely pointless thing to argue about, given that the whole idea of the Trinity is that the three aspects of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are *all* God. Really the *dumbest* thing to argue about.
