He was recorded as being insecure about his appearance and would fly into a rage if others stared at him for too long. When he besieged the city of Kerman during the Qajar-Zand civil war, the inhabitants booed him from the walls and insulted his lack of balls. So, when the city fell, he ordered that the enemy king Lotfali Khan Zand be gangraped by his soldiers, and had all 8000 male inhabitants blinded. The eyeballs were poured before him in a river so that he could count them.
