WWI generals and their questionable decision making

The war ended before Christmas, they just never specified which year Trenches were temporary tactics, they werent dominant tactics for that long, its just happend that peak of their effectivness was exactly during WW1 If we approach WWs like 100 years war: series of separate wars that were part of 1 major conflict than WW kind of was war to end all wars due to firework display US did by the end of WW2 in Japan So 3 out of 4 were kind of correct: WW1 generals were truly visionaires

The thing is charging the machine guns usually worked - after you had suppressed the machine guns with artillery The problem was now your new position was closer to the enemy artillery and you were further from your own reinforcements and communication, so even though your attack was successful, the enemy counter-attack would probably push you back -at the same if not higher enormous cost to them.

Wonder why this was dubbed the War to end all Wars when it was very bluntly stated at the treaty that this has only delayed it 20 years. Which...is exactly what happened.
