Pargalı Ibrahim Pasha was the grand vizier of Suleiman the Magnificent, sultan of the Ottoman Empire. Starting off as a Greek slave, he became close to the prince and slept in the same bed together as young men, possibly making them lovers. He later offered Hürrem Sultan/Roxelana, a Ukrainian slave, to his lord as a concubine. Suleiman became infatuated with her, even making her his official wife in an unprecedented decision. However, Hürrem found Ibrahim to be a threat to her power and likely framed him to be executed. Hürrem would go on to become the most powerful woman in the history of the nation. She also influenced Suleiman into killing his brightest son, Mustafa (from a different mother), in order to secure the throne for her own children. So, there’s much controversy about whether she had a hand in the decline of the empire. Ibrahim’s house in Istanbul is now the Museum of Turkish and Islamic Arts. I visited last month it’s a jewel compared to the busier tourist spots. I also recommend Kin no Torikago, a manga which has beautiful femboy Suleiman and covers a bit of their romance UwU
