That wasnt Lenin, Lenin introduced the NEP (New Economic Policy, limited capitalism). It was Stalin who tried skipping capitalism and immediately ended the NEP, contradicting established Marxist theory.

Lenin didnt even remotely try to skip capitalism. He modernized Russia by hiring a bunch US engineers to build hydro electric dams and he bought Ford tractors to modernise agricultural output, to the dismay of the peasants who fought for communism, Lenin exploited them. Then Stalin built Ford factories to add insult to in injury.
