The Swedish legacy in America - log cabins, town names, and raccoon trapping. Prince Bertil visited the town of Swedesboro in 1938 to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the colony’s founding and check out some of the still standing cabins. As part of the bicentennial in 1976, King Carl XVI Gustaf visited some New Sweden landmarks in NJ/PA including Swedesboro again. This marked the first state visit of a reigning Swedish monarch to the US. Hasn’t been back to the town since then so he’s probably seen enough for one lifetime.
