\> develop new ideas for state and society \> do antyroyalist rebellion \> cut off kings head \> theres a lot of chaos with some whacky ideologies trying to came on top \> revolution is hijacked by military dictator \> he pretty much reinstate monarchy with his family at the top \> after a while previous dynasty returns to power But enough about English Civil War, lets talk about French Revolution
Beethoven changed the name kf his Symphony from Bonaparte, to Sinfonia Eroica (Heroic Symphony) and acording to some after Napoleon declared himself Emperor in 1804. Beethoven tore up the score in rage,
Napoleon is such an interesting historical character, and deservedly holds the reputation of one of historys greatest generals and statesmen. But his reinstatement of slavery is such a black mark for him, in my eyes. The French Republic unilaterally abolishing slavery in all its colonial possessions (a motion carried after a former slave, a black man who was one of the representatives of San Domingo, held a rousing speech in the convention) is such a landmark in European history, it honestly deserves more attention.
