Since he couldn’t really refuse he went and was ambushed by two soldiers who then killed him by allegedly strangling him in front of the caliph. Others say he was Beheaded . However : after his death a zoroastrain revolt took place : The Sunpadh rebellion led by sunpadh. The rebellion seemed clearly driven by Sunpadh’s close connection to Abu Muslim, as he was one of his companions and supporters. He threatened in marching to Mecca and destroy the Kaaba as a response to the caliphate tearing down zoroastrain temples and the arab general announcing that “ you face people who are keen on destroying your religion and way of life” Although many historian say that both the threat to the to the kabba and these were unlikely He manged to capture the cities of ray, hamadan, nishapur, and almost all of taberstan .The rebellion ended up being suppressed with Sunpadh murdered. According to the historian Ibn Isfandiyar, countless of Abu Muslims and Sunpadhs supporters were killed in the defeat that their bones were still noticeable in 912. ☹️😭
