They’re called entitlements because you’re entitled to the benefits since you paid for them. If you take them away, then you just paid a tax. How about we tax this South African into oblivion instead?
Social Security, which misinformed people call an entitlement does not come from the general fund and is funded by deductions from everyone’s paycheck. You pay into it throughout your work life and then you draw from it. Social Security has about $2.5 trillion in reserve. It earns about $60 billion in interest each year. Yes, currently more money is being drawn out, than comes in. It’s easily fixed, but they refuse to do it because that would mean the wealthy pay their fair share, and in America today, that’s not an option. They’re deliberately bankrupting Social Security because it’s a government program that works well and they see it as a huge pot of money they can loot. Imagine a couple corporations skimming 20% off the top of 2.5 trillion in admin fees???
You mean the funds that i was forced to pay into - by law - that are meant to benefit me? Why yes, I *DO* feel entitled to those benefits thank you very much, and im tired of pretending like thats a bad thing. I fucking *PAID FOR THEM!* Being forced to pay into a program from which you get no benefits is theft. They want to steal from you, which is no surprise given the Kleptocracy we voted it.
