[Pou Vannary](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pou_Vannary) was a Cambodian singer that was active in the 1970s, She can speak good English, and specialised in covering American and British pop songs. One of her famous cover was the Khmer version of [It Never Rains in Southern California](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wYYCg6QWZok). Vannary, as part of the thriving Cambodian pop music industry in the 60-70s, was somewhat unusual among other female Cambodian pop singers of her time, due to her relaxed vocal style and ability to accompany herself on acoustic guitar in the mode of an American singer-songwriter. Despite having some records of her songs, little was known about Vannarys life or her date of birth, and we may probably never know. Her music career, along with the Cambodian pop music as a whole, was cut short after Khmer Rouge took over Cambodia in 1975, and the rest is history. She went missing ever since, and never seen again. She was profiled in the 2015 documentary film on the history of Cambodian pop music, Dont Think Ive Forgotten. She was one of millions of tragedies that happened during the 70s in Cambodia. Again, I highly recommend listening to [her version](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wYYCg6QWZok) of the song, its beautiful and also a bit sad.
Thats how people disappear
Oh, dude. Somebody did a remix or some shit of MF Dooms song and added this melody from this Cambodian singer, so I fell down the rabbit hole of their music. She also went missing and is presumed to be killed by the Red Khmers.
