They didn’t want to expand their knowledge of the depredations inflicted on the Ancient Near East by the Sea Peoples. Such Philistines.

there is a theory that the sea people may of been the forces sent to the Trojean wars trying to get home, wihch means that the bronze age collapse can be blamed on Odessyus for causing the siege of troy to end

I learned a lot after watching The Great Courses lecture series on The Bronze Age Collapse. The invasion of the sea peoples was really just the final nail in the coffin. Mediterranean civilizations had been suffering from drought, famine, and a collapse of trade before any outside forces came to finish many of them off. Egypt kept pretty good written records during the time. The few records that survived into the modern era paint a pretty grim picture but their civilization managed to survive. My favorite theory is that the Lacedaemonians (Spartans) were one of the Sea Peoples. They were always cultural outsiders in Greek civilization. Their own creation myth says they arrived from the sea, and conquered/enslaved the natives. Several of the seat people tribes had names not dissimilar to Sparta but that may just be a coincidence.
