Germany killed millions of people in the world wars and in the holocaust, but also saved billions of people through its invention of modern artificial fertilizers (if you are reading this, you are most likely only alive thanks to the Haber-Bosch process, which allows the majority of the worlds population to be fed today). Germany made vast improvements in all sciences, it invented modern physics, but it also is the origin of a lot of pseudoscience and esoteric quakery like homeopathy. Germany basically invented chemical warfare, but also created the first rockets that reached space and laid the foundation for the space race. Germany invented the car, which massively transformed global transportation and logistics, but also massively damaged the environment. Few other countries have had such extremely polar influences on world history.
