Basically every quaker is based, except Nixon

Samuel Evans Stokes, a wealthy American who made India his home, fought against British rule, and was imprisoned for it. An American Quaker from a wealthy Philadelphia family. He came to India in 1904 at the age of 22 to work in a leper home in the Shimla hills. Stokes was effected a lot by the Jallianwalah Bagh Massacre, he became a close associate of Gandhi after that. He joined the INC and participated in the Non-Cooperation Movement, was arrested for sedition and sentenced to 6 months jail in Lahore. Not only did he refuse bail to show solidarity with other Indian freedom fighters but also lamented that the jail was segregated between Indians and europeans, saying he didnt want special treatment. He is just as famous for his agricultural revolution in Himachal Pradesh where he imported apples of the Red Delicious variety from Louisiana to his farm in Kotgarh, distributing them to local farmers and teaching people how to cultivate them. This is how Shimla apples came to be. Cultural assimilation was complete with him ditching western clothes for Khadi, converting himself and his family to hinduism, changing his name to Satyanand Stokes and giving all his children Indian names. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satyananda_Stokes https://www.voanews.com/a/a-13-2008-12-19-voa40/406393.html

Unrelated but I also think it’s wild that Davy Crockett fought against the natives but was then like “the Indian removal act is fucking cringe and evil”
