The Ottoman empire is romanticized in Islamic history but really they committed a lot of wrongs and atrocities which including their own royal family. Further they failed to adapt to modernization of the times (such as the Renaissance and the Enlightenment) which led to their downfall. One of the egregious offense is when they took loans from Britain and France and instead of building Industry and Science, they built more palaces....
Not defending the ottoman practice of regicide but the whole point was to avoid one of the big issues with the European (and early ottoman) approach, succession crisis turning into empire ruining civil wars.
I mean, for a very long period of time the European succession laws were either We split the kingdom between all the sons equally or some variant of elective monarchy depending on size and location of the Kingdom.
