As someone who is utterly fascinated by (pre-PRC) Chinese culture & geography, this one hurts. Between this and the Great Leap Forward, Mao was evidently filled with big brain ideas.
Seriously, can someone who is from China or lived there tell me how Mao is seen by the common people? Because from all I have heard he seems like an idiot who I would hate.
In May 1966, Mao Zedong launched the Cultural Revolution, a campaign to purge China of “Traditional and capitalist elements”. As part of the campaign, aspects of Chinese culture and history were targeted or destroyed including the temple of heaven, the Ming dynasty family tombs, and the cemetery of Confucius. So much of Chinas rich history and heritage was lost or destroyed. The cultural revolution also included mass executions of intellectuals and the Guangxi massacre where up to 150,000 people were murdered by beheading, beating, live burial, stoning, drowning, boiling, and disembowelling, and over 400 were eaten.
Printed on demand by Printify. Ships from the US or UK depending on location.
