In 1517, the Zhengde Emperor of the Ming dynasty created an alter ego called General Zhu Shou (朱壽), to personally guard the northern borders of his empire and strengthen his authority (and probably also for the lulz). He granted Zhu Shou grand military titles, praised him on multiple occasions, and appointed him to lead campaigns against the Mongols.
