PhD and university lecturer in the First World War here. While we thematically group these conflicts together in course modules, they are not officially part of WWI and are considered successor conflicts. Often the groups who carried on the fighting were not the official governements who accepted the peace treaties and thus cant really be said to be a continuation of the same fight. They are separate fights against the specific terms of the peace treaties and not in pursuance of the goals of WWI proper. A bit of a semantic difference, but just saying how the scholarship views it.
